Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Pensacola, Florida!
Famed for its 52 miles of white sand shoreline, emerald waters, and the Gulf Islands National Seashore, Pensacola also ranks as America's first settlement, leaving it brimming with historic intrigue. Pensacola anchors the western end of Florida’s Panhandle and boasts culture, outdoor adventure, fine museums and attractions. The 160-foot Pensacola Lighthouse, built in 1859, still in use and offering tours, is the nation’s fourth tallest brick lighthouse. The T.T. Wentworth Jr. Florida State Museum, in an elaborate Renaissance Revival structure first built as Pensacola’s City Hall, is filled with artwork, artifacts, antique photographs and a hands-on children’s Discovery Gallery. Among Pensacola’s more whimsical sites is the kitschy neon billfish sign pointing to Pensacola Beach. Commissioned in the 1950s by the Santa Rosa Island Authority, it started life downtown, and in 1960 was relocated near the Bob Sikes Bridge in Gulf Breeze, shining so bright at night, it is sometimes mistaken for a UFO.
Other attractions include the National Museum of Naval Aviation and the Seville Historic District, one of the oldest and most intact in all of Florida, with Old Christ Church, Florida's oldest church from 1832, and St. Michael's Cemetery, deeded to Pensacola by the King of Spain in 1822. The Pensacola Historical Museum awaits on Zaragosa Street, with overviews of nations whose flags flew over Pensacola. The Wall South at Veterans Memorial Park on Bayfront Parkway is a one-half scale replica of the Washington, D.C. design. The world-class National Museum of Naval Aviation, with free admission, showcases the aviation history through indoor/outdoor exhibits. Racing excitement unfolds at Pensacola Greyhound Track and Five Flags Speedway, and the Civic Center hosts the Pensacola Ice Pilots professional hockey league. Tiki Island, the family fun center of Pensacola Beach, features 18-holes of fantasy golf, an arcade, single and multi-seater bikes, and more. It’s possible to feed the ducks at Bayview Park on Bayou Texar and to watch osprey return to nests with a fresh caught fish at Big Lagoon State Park. Public boat ramps allow for fun on the water, and shopping is terrific at downtown Pensacola specialty boutiques. Downtown also showcases the Pensacola Museum of Art, assorted art galleries, and coffee shops, cafes, and other eateries. Pensacola accommodations range from bed and breakfasts, cottages, motels and hotels to vacation condos.
